Viacheslav Poliakov
Beware. The Wall is Falling Down Above You
2020

In his artistic practice, Poliakov focuses on spontaneous visual language and the traditions of the public spaces in Ukrainian villages and towns. The artist documents manifestations of naïve creative thought, that doesn’t belong to a particular author and ceases to have any particular meaning. These found objects are formed by the process of degradation, dismantling, mistakes, wild plants, random interaction between unrelated people, and their accidental needs. All signs and writings were captured without any intervention from the side of the photographer. However, the final prints were supplemented with his artistic vision. Separated from the mundane context and framed, these eloquent signs acquire the symbolic meaning of the historical artifact or an artwork.

God, save Ukraine. Lord, have mercy on us!
