Solidaritaetszuschlag
2020

Solidaritätszuschlag means a solidarity tax in German. It was introduced in 1991 right after the reunification of Germany to restore the new federal states (the territories of the former GDR).

The majority of German taxpayers will be relieved from this obligation in 2021 — such a decision was made on Thursday, November 14, 2019, by the German Bundestag.

The de facto rejection of the tax 'is a sign of the success of German reunification,' said Finance Minister Olaf Scholz.

In this work, specially created for the #брюдершафт project, the artist considers possible scenarios for the reunification of the temporarily occupied territories with Ukraine and invites society to a discussion on the further actions they Ukrainian society is ready to make to do so.
